Farmers Markets have been reclassified as retail businesses
Thanks to all the customers that came to the market last week, we really appreciate that, especially given the weather, level 2 restrictions and fewer vendors than usual.
We have just heard the Farmers Markets have been reclassified as retail businesses (rather than events). This lifts the cap of 100 customers and means we can allow more people into the market, whilst leaving space for physical distancing of 2 metres. This is the same as the original Level 2.
So, the single entry exit will remain, and entry will be restricted at certain point. All customers must also wear masks and sign in via the QR codes or the manual records.T
akeaway food and drink is still preferably taken out of the market area to be consumed but there will be seating available for table service. No food is to be consumed while walking around the market area. We are still asking for people to limit their time at the market. We also hope to have some music back.
More stalls will be returning this week, keep an eye on the Facebook page on Friday for the list.
Thanks to @otagofarmersmarket and @farmersmarketsnewzealand for working with Minster Chris Hipkins on this change.
